Patrol Division

The Patrol Division is the nucleus of the Police Department and has the responsibility of responding to criminal incidents as well as calls for service.  Because patrol officers respond to a wide variety of calls, they must be trained to handle those situations.  Officers are trained in major crime investigation, accident investigation, breath-alcohol testing, crisis intervention, defensive driving, juvenile law and procedures, evidence collection and crime prevention to name a few  Within the patrol division there are several special units that have been established to assisted with everyday operations:

  • D.A.R.E. Officer: One officer is assigned to D.A.R.E. on a full time basis and two officers on a part time basis.

  • Truck Enforcement Officers: Several of our officers are trained second division truck enforcement specialists.

  • Bike Patrol: Officers are assigned to the Bike patrol during the summer months to assist the patrol division.

  • Officer Friendly: The Officer Friendly program has been very successful in encouraging communication with the youth of the community and promoting their safety and welfare.  A police officer contacts the students in the classroom in an effort to educate the communities youth on laws, safety and crime prevention.

  • Community Service Officer: Assists with officers duties; lock outs, disabled motorists, ect.

  • Investigations: Officers assigned work on cases that involved felonies and misdemeanors.

  • Specially Assigned Units: Officers are also assigned to special units in Lake County such as; M.E.G. Unit, Major Crimes Unit, and the Major Accident Reconstruction team.
